Vivo is taking a step ahead in smartphone innovation by bringing their concept smartphone Apex to the consumers. The device has been announced in China & shall be available for purchase within this year.
When we made that Top Flagship Smartphones Of MWC 2018 article, we couldn’t mention the Vivo Apex as it was still not clear if the Apex was having flagship hardware or not. But, it turns out to be one of the top tier devices of 2018 as it’s equipped with the Snapdragon 845.
The Apex has been already well received by tech enthusiasts for that Front Facing Camera that can slide out of the device whenever needed & that huge Under-display Fingerprint Scanner that lies under almost the entire bottom half of the Screen.
Using the Front Facing Camera with that sliding mechanism also allows the Bezels on the Display to be super thin. The Bezels on the top & the sides are about 1.8 mm thin & the Bottom Bezel is about 4.3 mm.
It’s a 5.99 inch OLED Display with a 98% Screen-to-body Ratio. There is no physical earpiece in the device so, Vivo has actually managed to use the vibration of the top portion of the Display glass to create sound signatures & operate as earpiece. We’ve seen Xiaomi doing this before in the original Mi Mix where they also couldn’t find a place to fit the earpiece on the display & the sound quality of that earpiece was usable. So, we hope Vivo will also not face any issue with this similar approach.
There is not a lot of info that the company has unveiled about the device but, what it has revealed is that, the Apex will enter Mass Production between Q2 & Q3 of 2018. So, maybe the device will be available in the end of 2018. Though, we don’t have any idea about the price & if Vivo will bring the device to other markets like India & North America.
