Motorola has finally unveiled their G6 & E5 line-up together which consists six total devices with three on the Moto G6 line & three on the Moto E5 line. So, we have the entry level E5 Play starting from baseline hardware to the Moto G6 Plus which is the top of the line device that bumps up to a more mid-range hardware configuration. Let’s have a more detailed look at both of the series separately.
Moto G6 Series:
Moto G6 series consists of three devices called the Moto G6 Play, Moto G6 & Moto G6 Plus. All these devices have 18:9 Displays. The Moto G6 Play comes with a 5.7 inch 1440×720 HD Display, the Moto G6 bumps that to a 5.7 inch 2160×1080 Full HD Display & the Moto G6 Plus has a 5.9 inch 2160×1080 Full HD Display.
The SOC & Memory variations go from a Snapdragon 427 for the Moto G6 Play with either 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM or 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM configurations, a Snapdragon 450 for the Moto G6 with either 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM or 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM configurations and a Snapdragon 630 for the Moto G6 Plus with 4GB or 6GB RAM, 64GB ROM configuration.
Now coming to the Cameras, the Moto G6 & G6 Plus come with Dual Rear Cameras while the Moto G6 Play comes with a Single Rear Camera. The G6 Plus spots 12MP f-1.7 regular camera + 5MP depth sensing Camera, the G6 spots a 12MP f-1.8 regular camera + 5MP depth sensing camera and the baseline G6 Play comes with a single 13MP f-2.0 shooter on the back.
All three devices come with an 8MP Front Facing Camera & there is also a Front Facing LED Flash present in all these devices as well.
The Moto G6 & G6 Plus come with Water Resistance which is certified by P2i so, the devices should be resistant to splashes & things like that.
The Battery capacities are different though. The regular G6 has the lowest capacity battery here rated at 3000 mAh, the G6 Plus bumps it upto 3200 mAh & the G6 Play is the highest here with a 4000 mAh Battery. All the models support fast charging.
The G6 Plus will be available around 299 Euros (~368 USD), the G6 will be available at 249 USD & the G6 Play will be available at 199 USD.
Moto E5 Series:
Just like the Moto G6 series, the E5 series also consists of three devices called the Moto E5 Play, Moto E5 & Moto E5 Plus. Two of these devices have 18:9 Displays while the lower end E5 Play comes with a traditional 16:9 Display. The Moto E5 Play comes with a 5.2 inch 1280×720 HD Display, the Moto E5 bumps that to a 5.7 inch 1440×720 HD Display & the Moto E5 Plus has a 6 inch 1440×720 HD Display.
The SOC & Memory variations go from a Snapdragon 425 or 427 for the Moto E5 Play (depending on the region) with 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM configuration, a Snapdragon 425 for the Moto E5 with 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM configuration and a Snapdragon 450 for the Moto E5 Plus with either 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM or 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM configurations.
Now coming to the Cameras, all the three models come with a Single Rear Camera. The E5 Plus adds a Laser Auto-focus system alongside. Anyway, the E5 Plus spots a 12MP f-2.0 camera, the E5 spots a 13MP f-2.0 regular camera and the baseline E5 Play comes with an 8MP f-2.0 shooter on the back.
All three devices come with an 5MP Front Facing Camera & there is also a Front Facing LED Flash present in all these devices as well.
The Battery capacities in the E5 series flow in the opposite direction compared to the Moto G6 series. The E5 Play has the lowest capacity battery here rated at 2800 mAh, the E5 bumps it upto 4000 mAh & the E5 Plus is the highest here with a 5000 mAh Battery. All the models support comparatively slower 10W charging.
The E5 Plus will be available around 169 Euros (~208 USD), the E5 will be available at 149 Euros (~183 USD) & the pricing of the E5 Play is not available at this moment.
The Moto G6 & E5 series will be available soon in India & in the United States but, availability of the models particularly is not clear for specific coutries.
