The DJI Mavic Pro is a pretty hyped drone of all the time. It’s Small. it’s Light & it’s quiet. In those countries where Drones are legal, we see a bunch of people who use the Mavic as their one of the most important filming tools now a days. In the IFA 2017, DJI announced an upgrade to the Mavic Pro & they’re calling it the Mavic Pro Platinum.
The Mavic Pro Platinum is actually identical to the Mavic Pro in most of the segments. The Camera is the same, there is still a 12 MP sensor that can shoot upto 4K footage. The Size of the Drone is also still exactly the same. What is improved though, is the overall Flight Time & Travel Distance.
The the Regular Mavic Pro has a flight time of 27 minutes (as mentioned by DJI) where the Mavic Pro Platinum can fly upto 30 minutes. As far the Travel Distance goes, the Pro Platinum can fly upto 15 Kilometers (9.3 miles) (Without Wind Obstacles) where the regular Mavic Pro can fly upto 13 Kilometers (8 miles) (Without Wind Obstacles). So, the Hovering times are also increased by 3 minutes in the Platinum. That looks good.
Also, the Noise levels are low by 4 Decibels in the Mavic Pro Platinum compared to the regular Mavic Pro. Dji claims the the new Platinum produces only 60% noise of the regular Mavic Pro. If we calculate mathematically, the noise shall be around 1/5 times less in the Pro Platinum.
So, the Mavic Pro Platinum starts at 1099 USD & if you’re going for the combo pack, it’ll cost you around 1399 USD. So, it’s exactly 100 USD more than the regular Mavic Pro. So, the people who can get benefited with the new enhancements, may want to consider it. But, if you already have a Mavic Pro, we don’t recommend this upgrade. Buy it only if you need a Mavic & you don’t have one.
